
So sorry, pals, to have taken Friday unexpectedly off. I was traveling and lacked internet access. I'll be back in action on Wednesday with a full report of my most delicious recent adventures, but for now, I hope you'll accept this photo of possibly the best meal I ever ate. Beet spaghetti with chanterelles in a frothy cream sauce.

That looks DELICIOUS! How did they cut the beets in spaghetti size?
It was actually pasta, flavored (I think?) with beets. They must have cooked the beets and ground them in with the pasta dough. It tasted sweet and beetlike--enough to make me think they didn't just dye the pasta with beet juice, but not so beety as to suggest a tremendous presence of the earthy root veg.
